Harry's Effect on Me

Watching Harry Connick Jr on American Idol auditions this week has taken Tim and I down memory lane.

It was probably March 2007, before Tim and I got engaged. We were hanging out at his place and somehow we heard that Harry was coming to a local winery for a concert. Tickets JUST went on sale online, so I grabbed his computer and started looking to buy. Tim started slowing me down, but I was getting all worked up: "you don't understand, they are going to sell out FAST!" Tim was like "let me see the seating chart....maybe we should research the area...." blah blah blah. My blood pressure was going up, and I'm like "Just give me your credit card!!" When he wouldn't, I was getting super mad. I grabbed the computer and went to get my own credit card, and I'm going to buy tickets myself....watch out! Seriously, I went to find tickets and they were sold out. Within 5 minutes!! I instantly burst into tears, and told him "We have to break up now!! Why did you keep me from Harry?!??!" He went upstairs real quick and came back down and sat next to me, while I sat there still crying, head buried in my hands! He tried to console me, and get me to open my eyes. Deep down I knew I was being ridiculous, so I looked up, and there in his hands were 2 TICKETS to see Harry Connick Jr, in SAN FRANCISCO, for May 24, 2007! (the day before my birthday!) I had never been so surprised, so excited, so confused, so relieved, and felt like such a jerk!!

Of course it was a great trip. It was his tour for his album "Oh, My N'Ola" (New Orleans music). Great concert. Met Tim's best man (to be), and had a fun time touring the city. Most of all, it was definitely one of those times to put in our memory box of how crazy and fun and ridiculous that year was for us. As we brushed our teeth last night before bed, we laughed together again, about Tim's "filabustering" to distract me from buying tickets, and me threatening to break up with him because he was cruel enough to keep me from Harry.
